Kirkcarrion Cup 2026

The Kirkcarrion Cup, this year scheduled for Sunday 20 September, is our annual competition for double-handed boats. We had some enjoyable and competitive racing last year, so please come along and join in! The question is - will Clair De Lune retain her 2025 title, or be eclipsed?

If you don't have a double handed boat of your own, that's no problem - we will have the club double handers available (see details below). It's also an excellent opportunity for those new to racing to learn alongside our more experienced members and we'll do our best to match up helms and crews to make that happen. Please respond to the poll on our club WhatsApp group so we can get an idea of who is interested and allocate boats as fairly as we can. You can also ask any questions in advance via the group or direct to Phil Wherry as Race Officer.

Weather permitting, we'll aim to run three races on a handicap basis, using our usual sailing instructions, which you can find on our start racing page, alongside details of what to expect if you're new to dinghy racing at Grassholme. We'll aim to start races on our usual schedule for Sunday racing - a morning race starting as soon after 11:15 as we can and two races in the afternoon back-to-back starting around 13:45. We're expecting that the club RS Fevas, Bahias, Picos, GP 14 and the Wanderer will be available, as will our two new Hartley 12s (no. 24 and 36) which can be fitted with jibs for double-handed sailing. You can find out more about our club boats here.
