    Discover Sailing Day 2024

Our Discover Sailing open day last Sunday was a great success despite the heavy rain. Visitors and club members enjoyed themselves, and the home made scones and cake! We had more visitors than last year and with the website up and running again have converted a number of them in to new members. A big thank you to all the volunteers who made it happen If you missed the chance to get on the

Wild winds at Grassholme today encouraged everyone to stay ashore, although James A, our round the world sailor, evidently thought it was nothing compared to an ocean crossing and was itching to get out there with a reef in. The safety boat crew had already started shore based jobs so that was an end to that. Chris B was concerned that Storm Kathrine might destroy his roof repairs and bravely scaled a ladder to

Yesterday was a great day to start the 2024 season. A fresh easterly F2 gusting F4 gave us some interesting sailing conditions; enough to satisfy the old hands whilst allowing some first timers onto the water. Everyone came ashore wanting more. James H baptised his new Supernova, and the kayaks and SUPs also hit the water. Thanks to James A, Sam M and Andrew H for doing the duties.

Commodore's Update - The Season Ahead

Happy New Year! Given we are now in 2024, I thought I should get tapping on my keyboard to give everyone an update on what's going on at the club. First of all, I'm sure you would all like to know that sailing will restart on Easter Sunday (Sunday 31 st March). We typically start sailing on the first Sunday in April but, given that would be the 8 th

    Commodore's Report - AGM 2023

We have had a relatively quiet year from my point of view both work and family life have taken their toll on 'spare' time, with no obvious, significant forecast to change hence the need to step down this year after three years at the helm. Membership has remained good although we lost both our corporate members Wilderness Outdoors Education (WOE) who really need less wind than the lake has to offer

    Round the Lake - Postponement

Hi all, Due to the forecast for 40mph gusts at the club tomorrow, the Round the Lake trophy is being postponed by one week. It will now be raced on 6th August. Any races that do manage to take place tomorrow will count towards the Occasional Series. I will update the Racing Calendar to reflect the changes as soon as I can. Hopefully we will have some better weather next week! Sorry for

    Club Regatta

A number of boats turned up to compete for the Club Regatta. There were four races with one discard, sailed in a tricky north easterly wind. Two races in the morning were won by James H. The Wanderer and the Enterprise had a bit of a coming together. A window in the foresail of the Wanderer might help avoid such blindspots in the future. New member Maggie arrived at lunchtime and went for a
