Welcome to Grassholme
We are located at Grassholme Reservoir near Middleton in Teesdale in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. 49 hectares of water lined up with the prevailing wind allow plenty of space for learning, racing or cruising. The Waterside Park provides a circular walk of 4 miles, which link to the Pennine Way and other footpaths.
Fiona did us and the Queen proud with a super Jubilee Regatta. The rain held off, the wind stayed light to moderate, and we soon forgot the cold north easterly edge that it carried. The club grounds were decorated with flags and bunting, even the gates were adorned with Union Jacks. Toby has been flying the Teesdale flag away on the south coast, at the Open Oppies race held at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club over the weekend. He came an unbelievable 15th of 67 sailors - and well up amongst Olympian sailors - 10 of those ahead of him are more than a year older with some aged 15 (Toby's still 11). There was a small (some would say 'select') turn out of sailors at the club today. Some were possibly put off by the forecast, which was to say the least 'nithering',others perhaps by preparations for the Platinum Jubilee. Whatever the reason they missed an interesting sail in shifty winds that got up to a F3 at times, but then died to nothing, before blowing up again and switching direction.
