TDSWC members are sailing round the world in the 2019/20 Clipper RTW Race

Hunt for TT
James – the man in the hat?

Our two enterprising TDSWC members, Trevor Thurlow and James Anderson are on their way around the world in the Clipper Yacht Race.

Trevor is sailing on “Zhuhai” (blue) and James is on “Imagine Your Korea” (purple).

You can see where they are standing in the 40,000 nm race – click here.

Skippers Log – Race 2 Day 19
“Dad’s Army + Sophie Watch is made up of Chris Serata, Bernard Tommasini, Trevor Thurlow, and Sophie Cross. Sophie is one of the youngest competitors on the Clipper 2019-20 Race at just 18, but she has calculated that the average age of her watch is 60, which gives some idea of the ages of the Dad’s Army part of the watch! Nonetheless, it does seem to be the watch that has the longest and most intricate discussions amongst its members. Bernard has been on the helm for an hour while Sophie, Chris, Trevor and I discussed the history of South Africa and the Cold War. Sophie has now taken the helm and Bernard is discussing whether or not to put the kettle on. He is insistent that coffee must be made properly… his way.”

Crew Log – Race 2 Day 22
“It is James who is constantly teaching me everything there is to know about the world (and a couple of things that one probably doesn’t need to know), the stars and his field of expertise, sail repair. He has been working constantly whenever there was something with the sails, spending his off watches with the sewing machine in the Galley.”
